SNAKES THAT CAN KILL PEOPLE
Iris Peng
There are a lot of different types of snakes all around the world. Today I will be talking about a few different types of snakes that can kill people. First of all, I’ll tell you about the three different ways a snake can kill its victims. The first way snakes can kill its victims is with constriction. So they squeeze their prey until it dies. Pythons and boas are the most well known kind of snake to use constriction. The second way snakes can kill its victims is with venom, like the rattlesnake. The third and final way snakes can is by eating its victims alive.
There are 4 types of snakes that are known to have eaten humans – and none of them are venomous: a reticulated python, an African rock python, a Burmese python and a green anaconda. Reticulated pythons are the longest snakes in the world measuring over 6.25 meters. They live in in South and Southeast Asia. The African rock python live across most of Africa and the humans they feed on is usually a child, although the larger snakes could probably eat a small adult. A Burmese python can be found in Burma, which is where they got there name. Like the African rock python, Burmese pythons can feed on small children. Finally, there’s the green anaconda. Green anacondas live in South America. Green anacondas are the heaviest snakes in the world and can weigh 250 kilograms.
Then there are the snakes that use there venom to kill people that are found in the United States, but instead of talking about all of them, I’ll just talk about rattlesnakes. Rattlesnakes can move their rattle back and forth 60 times or more per second. They rattle their rattle when they’re in danger as a warning to the approaching danger but even with the warning, rattlesnakes are responsible for most human deaths.
